DroneEye — The Sky Where Every Flight Becomes a Mission
How-To Guide

How to manage
a mission

A step-by-step guide for clients — from posting a mission brief to receiving your deliverables and leaving a review.

The mission lifecycle

Step 1

Create a mission draft

Go to your client dashboard and click New Mission. Fill in the mission title, description, location, date range, budget, pilot category, and required skill level. Choose between a single-pilot mission or a multi-pilot mission depending on your needs. You can also specify technical requirements like camera resolution, sensor type, and drone model. Save your draft — it won't be visible to pilots yet.

  • Be specific about the deliverables you expect
  • Add a flexible schedule flag if your dates can move
  • Higher budgets attract more experienced applicants

Step 2

Publish the mission

Once your draft is ready, open it and click Publish. The mission immediately becomes visible to pilots on the platform. If you enabled certification requirement, only certified pilots will see it. You'll receive a notification when the first pilot applies. Note: published missions cannot be edited — if changes are needed, cancel the mission and create a new one, or coordinate details directly with your pilot via chat.

  • Publish at least 5–7 days before your target flight date
  • A clear mission photo or brief improves application quality

Step 3

Review ranked applicants

Open the Applicants tab on your mission page. Our algorithm automatically ranks every applicant by match score — factoring in qualifications, equipment fit, ratings, and proximity. Each applicant card shows their profile, skill level, drone fleet, gallery, and score in a visual side-by-side layout. You can put applicants on hold, reject, or approve them. Approving a pilot assigns them to the mission. For multi-pilot missions, you can approve multiple pilots — each one gets assigned to the mission and added to the chat room.

  • The match score combines qualifications, equipment, ratings, and distance
  • Use the on-hold status to shortlist before deciding
  • For multi-pilot missions, you can approve multiple pilots

Step 4

Coordinate via chat

After a pilot is assigned, a dedicated chat room is created automatically. Use it to clarify logistics, share briefing documents, and align on deliverables. All messages are stored and searchable. You can also share files — images, PDFs, and documents are supported.

  • Agree on delivery format before the flight
  • Use chat to confirm the exact takeoff location
  • Files shared in chat are accessible to all room participants

Step 5

Track mission progress

The assigned pilot will mark the mission as In Progress when they begin. You'll receive a notification. The mission status is always visible on your dashboard — Assigned, In Progress, or Completed. You can monitor activity in real time and message the pilot at any point.

  • You can leave the mission chat open on a second screen during flight
  • Notifications are delivered via the bell icon and via WebSocket push

Step 6

Complete & review

When the pilot marks the mission as completed, it moves to Completed status. Open the Review tab on the mission page and leave a rating (1–5 stars) along with structured feedback on service quality, footage, professionalism, and whether you'd recommend this pilot. Once both sides review, the mission moves to Reviewed.

  • Reviews are public and permanent — be honest and fair
  • You can add a written comment in addition to the star rating
  • Missions stay in your history indefinitely for reference

Mission status reference

The pilot has started work on-site.

Why reviews matter

After a mission is completed, both parties can leave a review. Your review as a client helps other clients understand what it's like to work with this pilot. The pilot's review of you builds trust that you're a reliable, fair collaborator — which improves the quality of applications you receive on future missions.

Reviews are public, permanent, and cannot be edited or removed. Rate honestly — it keeps the platform fair.
